Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the College of Business Administration at IUBAT-International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT), China in 2023. He was awarded the China Government Counsel Scholarship (CSC) in 2018. Before that, Dr. Afzal obtained MBA and BBA degrees from the Department of Accounting & Information Systems, University of Dhaka (DU). 

His areas of teaching include Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing,  and International accounting standards. Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain has published several research articles on the Web of Science and Scopus. He has carried out his research in the fields of accounting, environmental economics, corporate social responsibility, energy, and marketing.

Dr. Afzal is an active reviewer for the journal Environmental Science and Pollution Research (ESPR), which is a SCI and Scopus-indexed journal. Dr. Afzal has attended several national and international conferences as a paper presenter, participant, and guest.

Previously, Dr. Afzal Worked as an Assistant Professor at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology and Green University of Bangladesh in the Department of Business Administration. He also worked as an Adjunct Faculty of the Independent University, Atish Dipankar University of Science & Technology” and International Islamic University Chittagong.

Industrial Experience

Dr. Afzal has industrial experience for 1 year from 2009 to 2010. During this period, He was employed in The ACME Laboratories Ltd.” as “Accounts Officer” in  Accounts Department.  His major responsibility was to assist in preparing Financial Statements, budgets, and Audits of the Project.

Training

  1. Completed 40 hours training course on SPSS & Applied Statistics conducted by the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), University of Dhaka from 1st June to 28th June 2009.
  2. Completed a semester long training courses on Certificate in training in Teaching and Learning(CTL) summer semester 2022 organized by Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning(CETL), Green University of Bangladesh.
  3. Completed training courses on e-learning and Teaching(CeLT) from 10 March to 25 March, 2022 organized by foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research(FLTR).

Grants, Scholarships, and Awards

  1. Received China Government Scholarships for Ph.D. in 2018.
  2. Selected consecutive two years as Distinguished International Student of Beijing Institute of Technology, China in 2020 and 2021.
  3. Selected as Outstanding Research Award from the Centre of Research Innovation and Transformation of Green University of Bangladesh in the 2023.

  1. Serving as Income tax practitioner (ITP) of the National Board of Revenue in Bangladesh.
